Position: Full-time Facility Maintenance Person Work Location(s):St. Joseph Church, Stratford; Immaculate Conception Church, Stratford; Holy Name of Mary Church, St. Marys Commitment: Full-time: 30 hours per week; Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (flexibility in hours to include evening and/or weekend work is required and will be based on business needs). POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Property Manager, the Facility Maintenance Person manages and ensures the timely cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of the properties of the Avon-Thames Catholic Family of Parishes. This position will work primarily at St Joseph’s and Immaculate Conception properties in Stratford. Travel to attend to maintenance needs at other buildings and locations within the Avon-Thames FOP will be required.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for the timely completion of all general cleaning and maintenance of the interior and exterior of churches, parish halls, and office spaces
Performs small general repairs as required
Completes grounds maintenance year-round including, but not limited to: spring and fall clean ups, lawn cutting, preparation of, planting and upkeep of flower gardens, snow removal, de-icing of all entrances and sidewalks
Sets up and takes down for events and/or programs at the hall and church
Works with staff, including other facility maintenance staff, to complete tasks as required within the Avon-Thames Catholic Family of Parishes
Other cleaning and support tasks when needed (i.e. special events)
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Property Manager or Pastor
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent in Ontario
Prior hands-on experience in the safe handling and operation of various types of ground care equipment including lawn mowers and snow blowers
Prior experience working in general maintenance and/or the cleaning of large commercial properties is an asset
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
Strong time management skills
Positively self-motivated with a strong ability to properly prioritize work needs
Ability and willingness to perform tasks of a physical and manual nature safely and efficiently both indoors and outdoors is required
Valid class “G” drivers license and use of personal vehicle
Ability to arrive at all facilities in a timely manner during snow events or other situations
Understanding of and a supportive attitude towards the mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of London is necessary
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
