From the letter: "I encourage you to 'stretch out your hand to the poor,' and I thank you for your support and your donations of time, treasure and talent which are enabling much good work to be done. May God bless us as we seek to live as disciples of Jesus."

'Stretch forth your hand to poor’ (Sir. 7:30) refers to Pope Francis’ message for the Fourth World Day of the Poor to help us "fix our gaze on what is essential and overcome the barriers of indifference."
