Position: Full-time Bookkeeper Work Location: London North Central Catholic FOP, 511 Cheapside Street, London, ON Commitment: 30 hours per week Monday to Friday (flexibility of hours worked between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; 30 minutes unpaid lunch) Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. This position is eligible for participation in the DOL’s lay benefit plan and DC pension program. Posting Date: November 8, 2024 Closing Date: November 22, 2024 POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Business Manager, the Bookkeeper for London North Central Catholic Family of Parishes is responsible for managing the parish finances and financial business processes. This role will perform a variety of bookkeeping, finance, and business support tasks. As a member of the family of parishes support team, this role ensures compliance to Diocesan policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Manage the full-cycle bookkeeping process.
Process day-to-day transactions including A/R, A/P, payroll and benefits.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
Prepare government remittances and the annual charity return.
Oversee the counting of the offertory collections and all other revenue sources and ensure that the
process, including the banking, is handled in accordance with diocesan guidelines.
Maintain the parish offering envelope system, recording weekly contributions in DDMS (Diocesan Data
Management System), and mail donor receipts and statements.
Coordinate boxed envelope sets for distribution and mailing, including assigning envelope numbers.
Prepare and analyze monthly and yearly financial statements.
Provide support for audits and other finance related tasks.
Assist with special mailings (i.e. Easter, Thanksgiving and Advent).
Provide face to face, email and telephone support to parishioners, vendors, contractors, and visitors
to the parish.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, and/or related hands-on experience.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Powerpoint).
Self-motivated with excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, properly prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to ensure and maintain confidentiality.
Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with visitors and parishioners in a welcoming and professional manner to answer inquiries.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
