Position: Full-time Custodian
Work Location: St. Joseph Church and the Spirit & Life Centre (St. Joseph Parish Hall) 180 Wellington St W, Chatham, ON
Hours of work: Full-time – 30 hours per week; Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Compensation: Salary is in accordance with experience and DOL personnel policies. Eligible for participation in the Diocese of London lay staff health benefits plan and pension plan.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Pastor, the Custodian manages and ensures the timely cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of the properties of the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes. This position will work primarily at the St. Joseph Church and Spirit & Life Centre. Travel to other sites within the Chatham FOP may be required.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the timely completion of all general cleaning and maintenance of the interior and exterior of St. Joseph Church and the Spirit & Life Centre
Perform small general repairs as required
Complete grounds maintenance year-round including spring and fall clean up, lawn cutting, flower gardens and snow removal and salting of all entrances and sidewalks
Set up and take down for events and/or programs at the hall and church
Work with staff, including other custodians, to complete tasks as required within the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes as needed
Other cleaning and support when needed (i.e. special events)
Other duties of a similar nature
Qualifications:
Prior experience in the safe handling and operation of various types of ground care equipment including lawn mowers and snow blowers
Prior experience in general maintenance and cleaning of large commercial properties is an asset
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
Strong time management skills
Positively self motivated with a strong ability to properly prioritize work needs
Ability and willingness to perform tasks of a physical and manual nature safely and effi-ciently
Understanding of and a supportive attitude towards the mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of London is necessary
