Position: Full-time Custodian Work Location: South Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes, 1400 Cabana Rd. W., Windsor, ON Commitment: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday (60-minute unpaid lunch) Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Business Manager, the Custodian at Corpus Christi Parish within the South Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes is a critical component of the parish staff and provides an important contribution towards the spiritual life of the parishioners through ensuring timely care-taking, maintenance, minor repairs and cleaning of our places of worship and offices.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Clean all buildings including church, offices, meeting rooms, washroom facilities, and other common areas
Order cleaning and washroom supplies and ensuring that adequate supplies are on hand
Collect garbage and recycling and placing it in the bin for pickup or for recycling
Ensure that facilities are in good working order
Ensure that heating and cooling systems are operational
Shovel snow and salt sidewalks and emergency exits
Prepare and work with a regular preventative maintenance schedule for equipment
Ensure WHMIS guidelines are followed
Set up/take down of chairs and tables for events as coordinated by the Receptionist/Secretary
Identify upcoming major repairs (e.g., roof, doors, equipment, etc.)
With consultation with Business Manager, engage external companies for services as needed (e.g. plumber, electrician, heating/cooling)
Ensure the office and church are locked at the end of each day.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Good knowledge of and experience handling cleaning supplies
Ability to fix/repair items that don’t require specialized skills
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with an excellent attention to detail regarding cleanliness
Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively work with others, including volunteers
Creative problem solver with a positive, action-oriented attitude
Ability and willingness to perform manual physical labour both indoors and outdoors
Access to a reliable personal vehicle is preferred but not necessary
Ability to work flexible working hours based on event schedules
Collaborative, supportive, flexible team player with a high degree of initiative
A pleasant and welcoming personality aiming to please customers
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
