A woman who enters consecrated life chooses to deepen her baptismal commitment by taking vows which emphasize the values of prayer, loving service, and simple living in community with others. Consecrated women serve the Church and community in many ways, including: youth ministry, homeless and hungry, battered women, education, healthcare, family life and parish pastoral ministry. Some Sisters are totally dedicated to the contemplative life. The resources here are to help a discerning woman discover the next steps in her journey. May God bless you as you search for His holy will.
If you are not certain of your interest in a particular community or form of consecrated life, yet believe you may have a vocation to the consecrated life, the diocesan Director of Vocations may help you discern. They can suggest reading materials, arrange for visitations, answer questions and provide the spiritual guidance candidates need. Please contact the Director of Vocations and Seminarians, Fr. Danny Santos at vocations@dol.ca for more information.
Every woman is called to make a gift of herself in love. Discovering the form the gift will take is the art of discernment. Avow is a small group for Catholic women, ages 18 to 35, who gather for heart-to-heart conversation and study as they embark on the journey of discernment together. Avow is not a program to recruit or convince you of your vocation; rather it is designed to create an atmosphere of freedom and openness for the authentic pursuit of the Father’s will. Groups are guided by the discernment principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola. In London & Surrounding Regions: Meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month. Please contact Marjorie Braatz at mbraatz84@gmail.com. In Windsor-Essex & Surrounding Regions: Meetings are held monthly. Please contact Maureen at the Madonna House, Windsor at mhwindsor@dol.ca. Please see our bulletin board for more details.
