For the past several years, the CCCB has used the National Week for Life and the Family as a key opportunity to propose ideas related to its national pastoral initiative for life and family. The annual celebration of the National Week for Life and the Family takes place in many dioceses across the country and always coincides with the United Nations’ International Day of Families (resolution 47/237) on May 15 of each year.
This year, given the importance of the "Year of the Family Amoris Laetitia" declared by Pope Francis, the National Week for Life and the Family, traditionally celebrated every year in May across Canada, will give way in 2022 to this special Year dedicated to the Family. The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) will not be providing specific activities related to the National Week for Life and the Family. However, the CCCB Standing Committee on Family and Life will propose some initiatives related to the Year of the Family Amoris Laetitia and the 10th World Meeting of Families, such as a promotional video (May 2022) and a national rosary held via Zoom (June 2022).
