World Youth Day was first celebrated in 1985 from the prophetic intuition of Saint Pope John Paul II. Every year since, World Youth Day has been celebrated at the diocesan level on Palm Sunday - until, beginning 2021, Pope Francis announced that World Youth Day in Particular Churches would be celebated on the Feast of Christ the King (21 November 2021) to gather young people around the person of Jesus Christ. These local events are by young people, for young people - you do not have to have experienced a World Youth Day Pilgrimage, or intend to participate in a Pilgrimage, to participate in these events.
More information about local celebrations of World Youth Day in Particular Churches throughout the Diocese of London, including a Mass for young people celebrated by Most Rev. Bishop Fabbro, CSB, is available
