Commitment: 35 hours a week, including weekends and evenings Salary: In accordance with the Diocese of London Guidelines

Summary:
The Family and Youth Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and directing the response of the Catholic Community to the needs of young people and their families. The Family of Parishes Family and Youth Coordinator works collaboratively with the Pastor, Pastoral Team, staff, laity, committees and Diocesan staff with the knowledge, skill and ability to develop and support the liturgical, sacramental, and community life of the parish with a focus on outreach to families.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To be the liaison person for school celebrations for schools within our parish boundaries
To coordinate, plan and participate in sacramental preparation and celebrations of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation with a strong family focus
To provide activities and opportunities to strengthen relationships with the young people and families of the parishes as follow-up to sacramental preparation
To coordinate the children’s liturgy program “Sunday Friends” and its volunteers
Creating Database for all the young people in the Parishes, which would include High School, Colleges, Universities and young workers
Produce periodic youth and family bulletins
To be present at weekend liturgies as assigned/agreed upon
To organise and participate in various programs and activities that help to strengthen and enhance the spiritual life of the Young People and their Families, such as, but not limited to Vacation Bible School
To oversee the Family of Parishes Youth Commission and work closely with volunteers
Qualifications:
Certificate in Pastoral Ministry or Youth Ministry or a post-secondary education deemed by the Diocese of London as equivalent (completed, in progress or willing to acquire)
Individuals who have experience with young people and/or families (such as a retired teacher or a seasoned volunteer in Parish Youth Ministry) will be given strong consideration
A Pastor’s letter of recommendation is required
Previous experience in youth ministry/parish volunteer work would be an asset
Knowledge and understanding of various social media forums such as, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat
A valid driver’s license and access to own personal transportation is a definite asset
Additional Information:
Hours of work and working conditions will allow for a flexible time schedule mutually agreed upon with the Pastor
The successful candidate will be required to complete:
Vulnerable Sector Records Check
Psychological testing with regards to suitability for Ministry as required by the Diocese
A 6-month probationary period
Salary and benefits in accordance with the annual Diocesan Salary Guidelines
