New Affordable Housing Development Launching in Northeast London
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has purchased just under one acre of land that they plan to develop into 60 affordable housing units for London. The site, near Huron and Highbury, will be severed from the property of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has a successful track record with over a dozen of these projects completed across Canada in recent years. Affordable housing is in high demand in London and across the region. Currently there are over 2,000 homeless people in London and 6,000 looking for housing. This project, when approved, will help alleviate the shortage of affordable units for individuals and families in the city.
An announcement event held today at St. Andrew the Apostle was attended by John Ketelaars, President, London Particular Council; Most Rev. Joseph Dabrowski, C.S.M.A., Auxiliary Bishop; Shawn Lewis, Deputy Mayor; Peter Cuddy, Councillor, Ward 3 and Teresa Armstrong, MPP, London-Fanshawe. (please see images and site plan below)
