Since 2015, Father John Comiskey has fulfilled the role of Bishop’s Delegate for abuse cases, working side-by-side with Ms. Sharon Wright-Evans as the Bishop’s Deputy Delegate. Together they have overseen the resolution of cases, assisted with continuing care through providing professional counseling for victims/survivors and continuing education for all of our priests, deacons, lay pastoral teams and our staff members across the Diocese.
In thinking of succession planning, Sharon, Fr. John and I believe it is time that a lay person assume the role of Bishop’s Delegate to be assisted by a priest as the Bishop’s Deputy Delegate. This is the reality in many dioceses in Canada already.
To facilitate this transition with a view to the future, I am happy to announce today, effective immediately, that Sharon Wright-Evans will take on the role of Bishop’s Delegate. She will be supported in this role by Fr. John Comiskey as the Bishop’s Deputy Delegate. Sharon will continue as the Director of Safe Environment Services. I also acknowledge the assistance of the very capable members of the Safe Environment Advisory Committee who continue to provide to the Delegate and Deputy Delegate expertise and support in this very important work. I am grateful to all for their many contributions.
Most Rev. Ronald P. Fabbro, CSB Bishop of London 4 March 2025
