Bishop Fabbro received the Ontario Catholic School Trustee’s Association Special Award at their Annual General Meeting on April 22.
The award citation noted that “At the diocesan level, he has served as a strong supporter and effective advocate of publicly funded Catholic education. He has worked with dedication to strengthen the partnerships with Catholic school boards in the Diocese.” As well, he “instituted a retreat for trustees which has provided important faith formation opportunities and fostered open and supportive relationships. Through his own personal visits to schools and by encouraging Pastors, he as strengthened the home, parish, school partnership.” The citation also notes his membership on the FACE Board of Directors and “his support for the Pastoral letter, Renewing the Promise, he has worked tirelessly to protect and promote publicly funded Catholic education in Ontario.”
