Saint Anne’s, the historic Roman Catholic church in Tecumseh, is celebrating a milestone this weekend as it reveals its freshly restored spire. After a ten-year absence, the spire was reinstalled last November and has been under restoration for four months. By Saturday morning, weather permitting, workers will have removed most of the scaffolding to reveal the result.
The church, which is 145 years old, has undergone an exterior restoration. To fund the costs, parishioners and sponsors have already donated over 60% of the parish’s $1.7-million Aspire Capital Campaign. In the fall of 2016, Fr. Eugene Roy, Pastor, announced that local philanthropist Al Quesnel would donate $2.5-million to begin the restoration of Ste. Anne’s church. The total cost of the restoration will amount to an estimated $3.5-million.
With exterior restoration now completed, the parish hopes to undertake essential upgrades of its audio-visual system, exterior lighting, washrooms, parking lot, and outdoor signage.
Anyone interested in supporting Ste. Anne’s Aspire Capital Campaign can contact the parish at 519-735-2182. Gifts of every size will be greatly appreciated.
