Rohingya Refugee Crisis
Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is responding to the worsening Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh and Myanmar and has organized an emergency collection, with the Canadian government matching donations until November 28.  To read a crisis statement from Development and Peace, please visit www.devp.org/en/pressroom/2017/comm2017-11-01.

Frank Leo, CCCB General Secretary:  “You are invited to help raise awareness about the unfolding crisis and to direct interested donors to the website of Development and Peace for instructions on how to make a financial contribution to the Myanmar Crisis Relief Fund. Until 28 November 2017 the Government of Canada will match all donations made to Development and Peace or any other eligible Canadian charity:   https://www.devp.org/en/emergencies/bangladesh.”
 
Donations are being accepted by the following means:

• Via telephone: call toll free 1-888-664-3387
• By text message: text the word, PEACE to 45678 to donate $10
• Online at https://www.devp.org/en/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=3&gl=24441
• Monies collected by parishes can be sent by mail—cheques only, no cash please—to Development and Peace, Attention Rohingya Refugee Crisis, 1425 Rene-Levesque Blvd. W., 3^rd Floor, Montreal, Quebec H3G-1T7.  Funds received before December 5, 2017, may be admissible for a match by the Canadian Government.
