The process of parish reorganization highlighted considerable challenges: changing demographics in cities and rural areas, fewer priests, declining Church attendance and aging buildings in need of extensive repairs.
The bulk of the parish reorganization took place between 2006-2008. A large number of parishes were directly affected in various ways – there were those that were closed, clustered or newly established.
Through our Pastoral Plan, we are committed to building stronger parishes, where good liturgies are the norm, where there is outreach to our youth and elderly, and to our fellow Catholics who do not come to Church, where vocations are fostered, where our linguistic and cultural differences are valued, and where the needs of the poor and vulnerable are met.
Parish reorganization was one step toward the fulfillment of the Pastoral Plan, and an essential step.
