Position: Part-time Bookkeeper Family of Parishes: Avon Thames Catholic Family of Parishes Work Location: Hybrid model based at St. Joseph's Parish, Stratford, including the option for remote work (96 Huron Street, Stratford, ON) Commitment: 15-20 hours per week (flexible) Posting Date: March 15, 2023 Closing Date: April 6, 2023
POSITION SUMMARY: The Part-time Bookkeeper for the Avon Thames Catholic Family of Parishes manages all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions. The Bookkeeper manages the family of parishes cash flow, maintains accurate records and provides timely financial information to the family of parishes Finance Committee.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Maintains separate financial records for the 3 parishes of the Avon Thames Catholic Family of Parishes
Manages the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Accurately enters and processes invoices, bills, and payments
Monitors and analyzes accounts receivable and payable reports
Resolves discrepancies with vendors
Reconciles vendor statements and manages vendor relationships
Processes payments and handles all related banking activities
Ensures that all transactions are in compliance with Diocesan policies, procedures and applicable legislation
Manages month-end and year-end closing procedures
Provides support for audits and other accounting-related tasks
Processes payroll and all charitable receipts
Assists the Finance Committee in reviewing financial statements
Other duties as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of post-secondary degree and/or diploma in accounting, finance or a related field - 3+ years of experience working in accounts payable/receivable - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines - Proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate
