POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Business Manager, the Seasonal Snow Remover will ensure that the parish sidewalks, handicap parking spots, and steps are cleared from snow and salted as required to maintain safe access for all staff, parishioners and visitors.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Shovel/mechanically remove snow and salt sidewalks and stairs when required, including:
Prior to 9:00 AM for Sunday Mass at 9:30 am.
Prior to 9:00 AM for 10:00 AM Tuesday Mass
Prior to 7:30 AM for 8:00 AM 1st Saturday Mass
Other parish events as required
Manage inventory of snow removal and ice management supplies, advise Business Manager of ordering needs and ensure proper storage of supplies.
Ensure all snow removal equipment is kept in good order.
Complete the Snow Removal log as required.
Report concerns (safety and/or other) to Business Manager in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable in Ontario equivalent or currently working towards
Ability to safely operate a gas-powered snow blower including refueling and minor maintenance.
Ability to manually move and shovel snow in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to work flexible days and hours, including holidays, to meet the needs of the parish as determined by the weather.
Understanding of and the willingness and ability to follow the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario, applicable Regulations and/or the instructions, policies and procedures of the Diocese of London. Use and/or wear appropriate safety gear and/or personal protective equipment as required by the employer.
Effective and strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of and a supportive attitude towards the mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of London is necessary.
A police record check deemed suitable by the Diocese of London may be required of the successful candidate.
