Position: Temporary Full-time Summer Day Camp Coordinator– Canada Summer Jobs Work Location: St. George Parish, 1164 Commissioners Rd. W, London, ON Commitment: 8 week summer position working an average of 35 paid hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour unpaid lunch: July 3 - August 8 - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm August 11 - 15 - 8:00 am – 5:00 pm August 18 - 28 - 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Compensation: $18.00/hour plus 4% vacation pay per hour paid Posting Date: May 8, 2025 Closing Date: May 30, 2025 POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Business Manager, the Summer Day Camp Coordinator will provide on-site leadership and support to all campers, Leaders-in-Training and Counselors. The Coordinator will lead on-site training for Leaders-in-Training and Counselors and is accountable for the successful day-to-day operations of the day camp. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all participants have a safe and positive experience that leads to personal growth and future leadership opportunities.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Provides on-site leadership and supervision to Springbank Camp staff through training, coaching, monitoring performance and supporting camp staff in meeting the expectations of their jobs
Plans, creates and coordinates camp activities and ensures the daily operations of the camp within budgetary constraints, organizes daily camp schedules, coordinates timely rotation of activities/events each day of camp to allow full camper participation, ensures supply provisions, creates checklists and schedules for effective and efficient set-up, program execution, take down and clean up
Monitors the delivery of safe, high-quality, fun and informative programs that are reflective of Springbank parish and the Diocese of London’s values
Ensures administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including paperwork associated with registration, waivers, attendance and parent communication
Responsible for parent and staff communications, including checking emails, responding to all parent/guardian inquiries in a courteous and prompt manner
Attends all staff training and meetings, arrives on time and actively participates and contributes to the development of all Springbank Camp staff
Ensures health and safety procedures, expectations and legislation is followed at all times by all camp staff
Acts as a positive role model for the Springbank Camp campers and staff
Assists with the facilitation and delivery of Little Church Camp
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field of study and/or actively working towards.
Previous experience working as a youth camp counselor and/or previous experience working with children between the ages of 3 -17.
Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification.
Previous camp and/or event co-ordinator or leadership experience.
Creative and innovative individual who excels in creating various activities that are appealing to children and youth.
Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, welcoming personal with the ability to quickly and easily establish rapport with people of all ages.
Excellent communication skills both with groups of children and with adults. Professional spoken and written communication skills are imperative.
Able to manage parish social media accounts (such as Facebook and Instagram), update content on the parish website, and efficiently use Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging for all.
Experience with and commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
