Position: Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Work Location: Erie Shores South Catholic Family of Parishes, St. Michael’s Parish, Leamington Commitment: 24 hours per week – hours will include weekends and/or evenings Compensation: Wage in accordance with DOL personnel policies. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Pastor, and working collaboratively with the pastoral team, the Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry creates, facilitates and supports initiatives to increase interest and involvement of the community’s youth and young adults.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Ministers to youth, young adults and families through youth gatherings, retreats, and small discipleship groups.
Visits the local schools, building relationships with staff and students.
Organizes and facilitates various programs and activities that help to strengthen and enhance the spiritual life of families.
Creates and implements formation activities for young adults, such as book studies and service opportunities.
Creates social media posts for the parish ministries.
Attends weekend liturgies as assigned.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirement of a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry or Youth Ministry (completed, in progress or willing to acquire) and/or a program deemed by the diocese as equivalent
Advanced education is an asset, e.g., CYM, CPM, M.Div., MTS, BA, MA in Religious Studies, Theology or Pastoral Ministry
Must be an active practicing Catholic; a Pastor’s letter of recommendation is required.
Previous experience in youth ministry/parish volunteer work is an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of various social media forums such as, but not limited to: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills are necessary.
A valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation is required.
Must be willing and able to work on weekends and evenings.
A vulnerable sector police check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required as a condition of employment of the successful candidate.
